Silent Detox Retreat in Nepal 6D/6N
A six-day silent detox at Sadhana Yoga Retreat combining Maunata (conscious silence) with 3–4 days of guided fasting and the traditional yogic cleanse Shankhaprakshalana. Moderately challenging, deeply purifying — a mental and physical reset that many consider a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

About this Retreat
The Silent Detox Retreat at Sadhana Yoga Retreat is a six-day, six-night programme built on a simple but demanding premise: silence and fasting together create a level of mental and physical reset that neither can produce alone. This is not a relaxation retreat. It is a structured detox — moderately challenging, physically and mentally engaging, and for many guests, a once-in-a-lifetime experience. The week follows a clear arc. Guests begin with three to four days of guided fasting, tailored to each individual and discussed upon arrival, supported by herbal drinks, light juices, and easily digestible foods when needed. During this phase, the digestive system rests while the body begins releasing accumulated waste. Energy often dips, then stabilises. The mind, stripped of food-related distraction and external conversation, tends to become sharper and more observant. The centrepiece of the retreat is one full day of gastro-intestinal cleansing and rest using the traditional yogic method Shankhaprakshalana. Under proper guidance, participants drink warm saline water and perform a sequence of five simple yoga movements that move the water through the entire digestive tract — a coiled passage roughly 7.6 to 9 metres long. The practice flushes the buildup from the stomach, small intestine, and colon, leaving the system clean. After the cleanse, rest is mandatory. The final phase is recovery and rebuilding: organic, sattvic, and Ayurvedic meals are slowly reintroduced, beginning with simple khichadi, to allow the digestive fire to regain strength without shock. Throughout the retreat, daily Hatha yoga, pranayama, and extended meditation sessions continue — supporting circulation, balancing the nervous system, and holding the container for the cleanse. Silence is maintained throughout, with a personal handbook available for essential communication. By departure, most guests report a deep sense of internal cleanliness, improved digestion, mental clarity, and a connection to their body's natural hunger rhythms. This is not a gentle introduction. It is a real detox.
