About Us
The founder
Sadhana Yoga Retreat began with a simple intention—to share the practice and lifestyle of yoga in an honest and accessible way. After spending 14 years in Kathmandu and continuing his spiritual journey in India as a sage, Asanga felt a strong calling to share what he had learned. He came to Pokhara and started small, renting a few rooms and welcoming a handful of guests. Over time, people connected with the retreat’s grounded and authentic approach to yoga and mindful living. What began as a modest space gradually grew through word of mouth, as more individuals found in Sadhana what they had been searching for. Officially established in 1998, the retreat has continued to grow steadily while maintaining its original spirit. Asanga later married Durga, and together they have supported the development of Sadhana. Today, he is focused on a larger vision—bringing together yoga, nature, and permaculture into a more integrated and sustainable way of living. The retreat is now managed by his elder son, Drishan, who also serves as a yoga teacher, alongside a team of instructors trained by Asanga who continue to share the practice with care and consistency. Sadhana remains a place for learning, simplicity, and genuine experience, staying true to its roots while continuing to evolve.

Our Purpose
At Sadhana, our retreats are thoughtfully designed to be simple, intentional, and truly accessible for everyone. We believe that embracing a yogic lifestyle doesn’t have to feel overwhelming or complicated. Instead, our aim is to gently introduce and guide individuals toward this way of living in a manner that feels practical, supportive, and sustainable long after they return home.
Our programs are ideal for beginners to intermediate practitioners, offering a balanced and harmonious blend of yoga, meditation, and yogic philosophy. Each day is structured with care, yet remains flexible enough to honor personal needs and energy levels. Set within a warm, famly-like environment, guests are welcomed not just as visitors, but as part of the Sadhana community. With small group sizes, every individual receives personal attention and guidance, allowing them to progress at their own pace and deepen their unique journey with confidence.
We emphasize a holistic approach to well-being, where daily practices on the mat are complemented by nourishing Ayurvedic meals, meaningful conversations, and a slower, more mindful rhythm of living. This supportive atmosphere encourages self-reflection, rest, and reconnection—helping guests step away from the noise of everyday life and return to a sense of inner balance and clarity. The experience is not only about the time spent at the retreat, but also about what each person carries forward into their daily lives.
By the end of their stay, our hope is that every practitioner leaves feeling grounded, inspired, and empowered with simple yet meaningful practices that can be seamlessly integrated into their routine. These tools are intended to support long-term balance, clarity, and overall well-being, creating lasting positive change. More than just a retreat, Sadhana becomes a gentle turning point—an experience that continues to unfold even after the journey home begins.
