about this programme
The three-day fasting retreat at Sadhana Yoga Retreat is designed as a gentle and supportive detox experience that allows the body to rest, cleanse, and regain balance naturally. Fasting has long been considered a simple yet powerful way to detoxify the system, and when combined with yoga, meditation, and breathwork, the process becomes both physically and mentally nourishing. This retreat provides a safe environment where participants can explore fasting without pressure, while remaining supported through daily guidance and a structured routine.
Throughout the three days, guests continue to participate in the retreat’s regular schedule of yoga, meditation, and pranayama. Gentle yoga practices help maintain circulation, reduce stiffness, and keep energy flowing even while food intake is reduced. Meditation sessions support emotional stability and mental clarity, allowing participants to observe sensations and thoughts with greater awareness. Breathing exercises further enhance the cleansing process by calming the nervous system and improving oxygen flow throughout the body.
The fasting schedule is intentionally gradual to make the experience comfortable and sustainable. On the first day, participants begin fasting with apples spaced throughout the day, accompanied by warm honey and lemon water to support digestion and hydration. The second day gently deepens the fast with a reduced fruit intake while continuing honey-lemon water, allowing the digestive system to slow down further and encouraging the body’s natural cleansing mechanisms. On the third day, the fast becomes lighter with fresh juices, giving the digestive organs a deeper rest while still providing gentle nourishment and energy.
This gradual approach helps minimize discomfort while promoting lightness, reduced bloating, improved digestion, and increased mental clarity. Many participants also notice a deeper connection to their body’s natural hunger patterns and a sense of calm that arises from stepping away from habitual eating.
In addition to the fasting process, the peaceful surroundings of the retreat centre play an important role in supporting recovery. Guests are encouraged to rest, spend time in nature, and maintain a quiet, reflective mindset throughout the experience. This combination of physical cleansing and mental stillness often creates a feeling of inner reset that continues beyond the retreat.
The package includes comfortable accommodation with options for private, shared, or dormitory stay, access to the retreat’s daily routine, filtered water, tea, supportive drinks, and breakfast before departure to gently transition back into regular eating.
